Respect O'Clock Is Almost Here: Rastahari Keeps the Spirit of Dub Alive
Babylon always chasing the next big thing.
One minute everybody running after one sound. Next minute dem gone somewhere else. But dub? Dub never chase anybody.
Dub stand firm.
That same spirit returns on July 24, 2026, when Arizona dub artist Rastahari releases his newest single, Respect O'Clock, the second release from his forthcoming album Dub Developer.
Respect Is Always On Time
The title alone says plenty.
Respect is not something you schedule when convenient. Respect is something you carry every day. And if you have spent enough time listening to real dub, from the laboratories of King Tubby to the fearless experiments of Lee "Scratch" Perry, you already know that respect is the first ingredient before the first echo ever touches the tape.
The Journey Continues
Respect O'Clock follows the encouraging response to Dub Earth, the first glimpse into what promises to be another thoughtful chapter in Rastahari's musical journey.
Even before its official release, his music has already found ears around the world through respected reggae and dub broadcasters including Dr. StrangeDub's Echo Chamber on KFAI 90.3 FM and Sounds of the Caribbean with Selecta Jerry.
Now that is what Judah calls letting the music travel before the marketing department even wakes up.
Building On Solid Foundations
Real dub is not about piling on effects until nobody remembers the rhythm. It is about creating space. Every echo has purpose. Every drop-out tells part of the story.
Rastahari continues walking that road while acknowledging the giants whose shoulders every dub producer still stands upon: King Tubby, Scientist, Augustus Pablo, Mad Professor, and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
The beautiful thing about reggae is this: the roots never stop growing.
Dub Is Still Speaking
Last year's album Dub Is My Superpower reached listeners across Jamaica, France, the United Kingdom, Hawaii, Texas, Oregon, Minnesota, North Carolina, and New Jersey. Its single Black Tie Dub even climbed to the top of the MJ27 Magazine Reggae Chart.
That tells Judah something important. People still have ears for music with patience. Music that breathes. Music that lets silence become another instrument.
Looking Toward Dub Developer
If Dub Earth opened the door, Respect O'Clock invites listeners inside. With Dub Developer on the horizon, Rastahari continues proving that authentic dub can honor Jamaica's foundation while finding fresh voices in unexpected places, including the Arizona desert.
Sometimes the biggest echoes travel the longest distance.
Judah Lion's Last Word
See, Babylon always asking what is next.
Reggae asks something different.
Did you remember who came before?
That question never goes out of style. And neither does good dub.
Respect O'Clock arrives worldwide on July 24, 2026.
Tell us in the comments: which dub pioneer first pulled you into the world of echo, bass, and endless possibility?
